TRAINING DRILLS
PV18
AGILITY LADDER
Stand in front of an agility ladder. Head slightly tilted down, your Trainer on. Look into the lens
Move forward, taking small fast steps
Notice the ladder steps in your lower periphery as you step over them
When you reach the end of the ladder, turn around and go back, or walk around to the starting point, noticing objects in your periphery as you go
As you progress
To make this drill more challenging, place poles randomly alongside your practice ladder. Call each pole out as you see it in your periphery
Practice time: 3 sets
Practice Lenses: #2 and #3
Tips and Watchouts
If you have a short ladder, increase the number of repetitions
PV14
FORWARD - TWIST - BACK
Stand between the first set of poles, wearing your Trainer, your head high, look into the shield
Walk or run forward until you see the next set of poles in your periphery. When you do turn by 180 degrees and continue (now facing the starting point and moving backwards) towards the 3rd set of poles.
Once you see the 3rd set of poles in your periphery reverse your movement - move forward until you reach the middle again, then turn 180 degrees and finish at the starting point moving backwards
Repeat
As you progress
Pick up your speed
Remove one of the middle poles
Practice time: 1-2 minutes
Practice Lenses: #2 and #3
Tips:
For more continuous training add pairs of poles to your set up. Twist each time you reach the next set of poles
PV16
FORWARD - LATERAL COMBINATION
Utilize the poles as described in Training 4 set-up, adjust if desired
Wear your Trainer and look into the shield. Stand to the left of the first left pole (1), as viewed from your direction
Move forward until you see the next pole (2) in your right periphery. Pass the pole (take an extra step or two)
Then shuffle to the right until you pass the right pole (3) and see it in your left periphery
Move forward again until you see and pass the next pole (4), shuffle left again, pass the pole (5) and finish moving forward to the last pole (6)
Turn around and go back, or reverse the movement and go backwards
As you progress
For an extra challenge, dribble, bounce or otherwise engage with a ball while practicing
Practice time: 3+ sets
Practice lenses: #2 and #3
Tips:
Make a slow movement at first, increase speed as you increase proficiency in your peripheral vision.
You can practice continuously with 6 or more poles, as shown in the “Continuous Movement” diagram. Same principles apply
