Presbyopia: aka aging eyesight. Caused by the loss of flexibility of the lens, atrophy of the ciliary muscles, insufficient contraction of the pupil and/or strain.

Symptoms: Difficulty to focus on close objects. Reading or using a smartphone becomes challenging. Looking at close objects may be uncomfortable and painful.

Traditional correction: Reading glasses, bifocals, or contact lenses designed specifically for near vision.

Natural correction: The path to tossing your readers awaits you inside this month’s lesson.

May your eyesight be boundless.

This image clearly shows contraction and relaxation of the ciliary muscles and the impact of such action on the shape of the lens. Any strain of the muscles (as well as their atrophy) diminishes the level of control one has over the shape of the lens and therefore of the level of the refractive power it provides.
